Working with a plotter involves using specialized software, for certain types of files. If you want to make things easier, then you should look at ViewCompanion. It gives you the possibility of opening plotter files in various formats, generated by all sorts of CAD or plotter programs. Additionally, the software lets you annotate the content, convert the files to other, more accessible formats and more.

ViewCompanion is free to try, without any noticeable functionality restrictions. It comes in a small package and it can be installed quickly, without making any complex configurations. The software doesn't have any special requirements and it doesn't use a significant amount of resources.

The amount of controls ViewCompanion presents on its user interface shouldn't be something intimidating, even for less-experienced users. You can import a file through a normal browsing option, after which its content will be displayed in the central region of the interface. If it consists of multiple pages, you will find them on the left side of the window, where you can delete or extract individual items. Additionally, the software displays all layers in the loaded file, as well as any bookmarks and other elements, if there are any available.

You can make various annotations, by simply selecting a tool in one of the ribbon menus and clicking directly in the main working area. Adding highlights, custom text, lines, measures, stamps or symbols are just a few examples.
